Farinaz's Story

As a child, Farinaz was active, athletic, and passionately interested in sports. From a young age she engaged in gymnastics, basketball, and tennis. However, her growing curiosity around martial arts was blocked by social hostility; adults and boys told her that girls couldn’t fight. Then, by the time Farinaz was 18, when she finally picked up kickboxing, she was told that she was too old to become a champion!

But it was too late; Farinaz was already hooked. Lesson after lesson flowed by. This young woman kept fighting with grit, slowly strengthening her muscles, and sharpening her technique. Deep inside she knew that she had great things to achieve.

In only a few years, she managed to become the first Iranian woman to ever win the WAKO world kickboxing championship in Brazil in 2013. Heroically she negated and proved wrong everyone who had ever told her that girls couldn’t fight. Triumph was hers. This victory remains a shining star in Farinaz’s crown of victory. However, her crown has many other jewels. Farinaz has a history of winning not just one, but multiple national championships as a member of the Canadian and Iranian national kickboxing teams.
